Students from three local schools came together with Katie Noonan to perform a free concert packed with passion and creativity. The mesmerising performance was part of Queensland Music Festival’s You’re The Voice Choral Project, which celebrated the choral talent in Brisbane while also raising awareness for domestic violence.

When we were offered the chance to support this event and help make it free, we jumped at the chance to be part of such a great initiative. After months of practice, the choirs delivered a series of incredible performances at Sunpac in Sunnybank, culminating in a stirring performance of John Farnham’s You’re The Voice.

The conductor for the night – Dr Jonathon Welch AM, founding Artistic Director of the Choir of Hard Knocks – said he hoped the performance would stay with the audience for a long time. From our own experience and the feedback we’ve had, the choirs have definitely achieved that.

Here are the photos from the night. Thanks to the students from Beenleigh State High School, MacGregor State School and St Thomas More College for sharing your performances – our local community continues to inspire us! Be sure to watch these choirs, as we’re certain there are several future stars among them.
